On Family Salvation

(Genesis 6:18 NIV) But I will establish my covenant with you, and you will enter the ark–you and your sons and your wife and your sons’ wives with you.

(Exodus 12:26-27 NIV) And when your children ask you, ‘What does this ceremony mean to you?’ {27} then tell them, ‘It is the Passover sacrifice to the LORD, who passed over the houses of the Israelites in Egypt and spared our homes when he struck down the Egyptians.’” Then the people bowed down and worshiped.

(Deuteronomy 4:37-39 NIV) Because he loved your forefathers and chose their descendants after them, he brought you out of Egypt by his Presence and his great strength, {38} to drive out before you nations greater and stronger than you and to bring you into their land to give it to you for your inheritance, as it is today. {39} Acknowledge and take to heart this day that the LORD is God in heaven above and on the earth below. There is no other.

(Deuteronomy 6:6-7 NIV) These commandments that I give you today are to be upon your hearts. {7} Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up.

(Deuteronomy 12:28 NIV) Be careful to obey all these regulations I am giving you, so that it may always go well with you and your children after you, because you will be doing what is good and right in the eyes of the LORD your God.

(Job 1:4-5 NIV) His sons used to take turns holding feasts in their homes, and they would invite their three sisters to eat and drink with them. {5} When a period of feasting had run its course, Job would send and have them purified. Early in the morning he would sacrifice a burnt offering for each of them, thinking, “Perhaps my children have sinned and cursed God in their hearts.” This was Job’s regular custom.

(Psalms 103:17 NIV) But from everlasting to everlasting the Lord’s love is with those who fear him, and his righteousness with their children’s children–

(Psalms 112:1-2 NIV) Praise the LORD. Blessed is the man who fears the LORD, who finds great delight in his commands. {2} His children will be mighty in the land; the generation of the upright will be blessed.

(Proverbs 20:7 NIV) The righteous man leads a blameless life; blessed are his children after him.

(Proverbs 22:6 NIV) Train a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not turn from it.

(Isaiah 44:3 NIV) For I will pour water on the thirsty land, and streams on the dry ground; I will pour out my Spirit on your offspring, and my blessing on your descendants.

(Isaiah 49:25 NIV) But this is what the LORD says: “Yes, captives will be taken from warriors, and plunder retrieved from the fierce; I will contend with those who contend with you, and your children I will save.

(Isaiah 54:13-14 NIV) All your sons will be taught by the LORD, and great will be your children’s peace. {14} In righteousness you will be established: Tyranny will be far from you; you will have nothing to fear. Terror will be far removed; it will not come near you.

(Isaiah 65:22-24 NIV) No longer will they build houses and others live in them, or plant and others eat. For as the days of a tree, so will be the days of my people; my chosen ones will long enjoy the works of their hands. {23} They will not toil in vain or bear children doomed to misfortune; for they will be a people blessed by the LORD, they and their descendants with them. {24} Before they call I will answer; while they are still speaking I will hear.

(Jeremiah 30:20-22 NIV) Their children will be as in days of old, and their community will be established before me; I will punish all who oppress them. {21} Their leader will be one of their own; their ruler will arise from among them. I will bring him near and he will come close to me, for who is he who will devote himself to be close to me?’ declares the LORD. {22} “‘So you will be my people, and I will be your God.’”

(Jeremiah 31:16-17 NIV) This is what the LORD says: “Restrain your voice from weeping and your eyes from tears, for your work will be rewarded,” declares the LORD. “They will return from the land of the enemy. {17} So there is hope for your future,” declares the LORD. “Your children will return to their own land.

(Joel 2:28 NIV) ‘And afterward, I will pour out my Spirit on all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy, your old men will dream dreams, your young men will see visions.

(Malachi 4:6 NIV) He will turn the hearts of the fathers to their children, and the hearts of the children to their fathers; or else I will come and strike the land with a curse.”

(Acts 2:38-39 NIV) Peter replied, “Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. {39} The promise is for you and your children and for all who are far off–for all whom the Lord our God will call.”

(Acts 16:31 NIV) They replied, “Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved–you and your household.”

(1 Corinthians 7:14 NIV) For the unbelieving husband has been sanctified through his wife, and the unbelieving wife has been sanctified through her believing husband. Otherwise your children would be unclean, but as it is, they are holy.

(Ephesians 6:4 NIV) Fathers, do not exasperate your children; instead, bring them up in the training and instruction of the Lord.
