Church Events in May 2019
2nd Saturday Chain Prayer (11th May 2019)
The Monthly Chain Prayer was held in the church on 11th May, 2019 from 7 am till 12 noon. We thank those brothers and sisters who came and attended this time of prayer. Please join us in the chain prayer held every 2nd Saturday of the month.
VBS – 2019 (15-21 May)
The Vacation Bible School (VBS) was held in our church this year from 15th – 21st May, 2019. Mr. Ranjan Pati was the Camp Director in this year’s VBS. On an average nearly 150 children attended the classes held every day. VBS was conducted by the church in collaboration with the local committee of the Scripture Union and Children’s Special Service Mission. A Love Feast for the children was held on 20th May evening. The Convocation was held on 21st May @ 6:30 pm where God’s servant Rev. Samuel Somalingam, Pastor of Church of God, Cuttack was the chief guest. We thank the members of Scripture Union for the smooth conduct of this annual church program for our precious children. We also thank the parents for sending their children to this program.
Lord’s Supper conducted twice in May 2019 (May 19):
The church conducted the Lord’s Supper for the 2nd time this month on the 3rd Sunday (May 19) both in the English and Odia Worships. This was being done keeping in view the fact that many worshippers could not partake in the Lord’s Supper on May 5 in the aftermath of the ‘Fani’ Cyclone.
General Body Meeting held on 22nd May, 2019
We had a meeting of the General Body on 22nd May, 2019 where a proposal to amend a single clause of the constitution was accepted. The proposal was to replace the three-member Supervisory Committee comprising of two Pastors and the Secretary with a six-member committee, the members of which will be Dr. Bijay Kishore James, Mr. Susanta Kumar Pradhan, Mr. Ranjan Pati, Mr. Sarat Kumar Singh, Mr. Ranjan Rout and Mr. Ranjan Gan. The proposal will be brought before the house for voting in a meeting of the General Body to be held @ 7 pm on 26th June 2019. It will be accepted and the constitution amended if it is carried by the house by 2-3rd majority. All members and associate members are hereby requested to attend the meeting.
Prem Nalini Das Memorial Inter-Prayer zone Bible quiz competition (25th May, 2019)
The annual Prem Nalini Das Memorial Inter-Prayer zone Bible quiz competition being conducted by the Christian Endeavour Union (C.E.) was held in the church on 25th May (Saturday) @ 6:30 pm. Participants were from the various prayer zones of our church. We thank the CE family for conducting such a wonderful competition.
Mission Sunday observed on 26th May 2019
Mission is the heartbeat of the church. We are grateful to the Lord for making it possible to observe ‘Mission Sunday’ in our church on 26th May. Rev. Susanta Patra preached on this occasion in both our Worship Services. The church has also taken the decision to take the Gospel to five districts of our state where work is being initiated. The church has already started work in Jagatsinghpur and Mayurbhanj district while other three districts, Kendrapada, Jajpur and Nayagarh have been taken as focus districts. We need your prayer and support to take the work forward.
47th Annual day of the C.E. Union conducted on 27-28 May, 2019
On occasion of the 47th Bhubaneswar C.E. Day celebration, we had flag hoisting @ 8 am in the church premises on 27th May where Bro. Biren Kumar Pradhan was the chief guest. To mark this occasion, the C.E. Union conducted Revival meetings on both evenings @ 7 pm. Rev. Niranjan Turuk of Cuttack was the preacher. It was a blessed time for those who attended these meetings. We Praise God for the wonderful work done by the Christian Endeavour Union of Bhubaneswar.
